Question: Can Canvas Track Your Location

Regarding your second question, I don’t know the answer to this, but as far as I know Canvas does not track your location in any way, it only relies on the IP address from which you access Canvas.

Can canvas see your location?

Canvas cannot access your webcam when you are browsing or learning or uploading your assignments. It can only do that if the instructor has used a lockdown browser or proctoring software.

I’ve answered this question already on another thread and yes, they can. They have special software that enables them to see what is happening on the computer and take it over if need be. Google “school computer monitoring software” and you will see literally hundreds of products available to schools for this purpose.

Can split screen be detected?

It cannot tell that you specifically split screen. It can however monitor that you clicked away from the window or to another tab. However, the same log item is caused if the student is inactive for 30 seconds with no discrepancy.
