How Do Contrast Paints Work

Contrast is based around manipulating flow properties. By repeatedly tweaking our formula, we managed to make a paint that flows into recesses like a wash, while sticking to surfaces like a layer paint. Some contrast paints are suspensions, while others are actually dyes.

Are contrast paints good?

The Good. High-density acrylic pigment – Contrast Paints are much more pigmented than an average wash. Army-sized painting – If you have a lot of models to paint, for an army for example, you can paint specific parts very quickly.

Can you paint over contrast paints?

If you get the darker-toned Contrast paints where you want to paint the lighter paints, you HAVE to repaint your mistakes with the primer. It’s not a massive problem, though the primer paint is quite gloopy and probably will need thinning down a little. Psychologically, I think it’s daunting for new painters.
