Surface Preparation Clean. Epoxy bonding surfaces must be free of any contaminants such as grease, oil, wax or mold release. Do you need to prime wood before resin?
The Epoxy Resin sinks into the Wood For any porous surfaces such as wood, it is particularly important to seal the surface first. You do not need a separate product for this, rather you can simply apply a thin layer of resin to the wood and let it cure.
How dry does wood need to be for resin?
Ideally, you will purchase or check wood to make sure it is down to about 6-8% moisture content (MC) before making anything intended for indoor use.

How do you shine resin after sanding?
Use a buffing wheel (or any polishing tool) to polish a larger piece of resin. It is best to attach the buffing wheel to a power drill so that the process is easier. Apply it as evenly as possible until the resin is shiny and smooth. Rub the surface with a microfiber cloth to get a glossy finish.

Will polyurethane make wood waterproof?
No, polyurethane does not make hardwood waterproof, but it does make wood water resistant. Polyurethane gives hardwood its protection. It repels water and prevents water absorption, but it never fully blocks it so it will never make it 100% waterproof. Polyurethane also protects wood for scratches and discoloration.
Can you use Turtle Wax on resin?
I used two different polishing compounds to start the polishing process – first was Turtle Wax brand Rubbing Compound. Follow the instructions – apply a small amount to a clean polishing cloth and rub it vigorously onto the surface of the resin.
