What are Anderson connectors used for?

The Anderson plug is designed to handle a high, continuous load, so this makes it ideal to use in charging circuits. The most common use that we install Anderson plugs for is charging the auxiliary battery in your caravan or camper trailer when driving.

These sizes all use the same plastic housing in multiple colors, differing only in the metal contact inserted into the housing (selected based on the ampacity and wire size).

How do I know if my Anderson plug is working?

Diagnosis is fairly straightforward – unplug the Anderson Plug to determine whether the problem is on the tow vehicle or trailer. On the tow vehicle, that can be done quickly by putting in a new fuse/resetting the circuit breaker. If the fuse/circuit breaker goes then the fault clearly lies in the tow vehicle.

Does a 12 pin plug charge battery?

A 12 pin plug can only take up to 6mm wire, which is not suitable for a charge current. In the worst cases, trying to run a battery charge feed through your 12 pin plug can lead to pins melting together, destroying the plug and socket in the process.

What is the difference between 12N and 12S?

What are 12N and 12S? 12N electrics provide the ‘normal’ legal lighting requirements, via a single 7 pin electrics plug. These include the brake, indicator and fog lights. 12S electrics provide the ‘supplementary’, or advanced, electricals through an additional 7 pin twin electrics plug.

What is the difference between a 7 pin and 12 pin trailer plug?

A 7-pin connector will work for most traditional box trailers, smaller boat trailers, and typically any application that does not require any accessories to be run whilst the trailer is in use. 12-Pin trailer connectors allow users to run accessories via 5 extra pins.

What is the most common trailer plug in Australia?
