Can I Staple Tyvek house wrap?

Tyvek says you can use 4 staples per 9 feet of house wrap if you tape over them an apply the siding right away. But a cap stapler is better. Apply house wrap up the gables before installing exterior trim, even if the attic is not conditioned.

Do you staple Tyvek?

When staples without caps are used to temporarily fasten DuPont Tyvek® WRBs, no more than 4 staples per square yard should be installed. All staples should be sealed with DuPont Tyvek® Tape when the DuPont Tyvek® WRB is being installed for air barrier and high performance applications.

Do you tape the bottom of Tyvek?

Nope, there’s no Tuck here. The red sheathing tapes down here are various brands (IPG, Typar, Tyvek, Shurtape, 3M, etc.) and it’s plain red plastic tape with no branding on the tape itself like the Tuck tape you’ve got up there, though some brands like Tyvek and Typar are white tape with their logo on it.

Can I use 2 layers of Tyvek?

So if you put up two layers of Tyvek then it might become too much of a vapor barrier. This can trap water inside the exterior wall of a house and cause all sorts of moisture related problems. Better to use just the right amount of Tyvek.
