Why do UPS drivers lie?

That can add up. Drivers are required to report each package that is not delivered and the reason why. Sometimes there is a legitimate reason, others, the driver got behind and was unable to finish their route and they lie about it on their report.

Will UPS redeliver the next day?

Not often but there are exceptions. UPS drivers typically have such a tight time schedule that they only have time to make one delivery attempt. If you need your package sooner than the next day, you can always call your local sort center and see if you can come pick it up that evening.
