ULTRACAL 30 is a plaster cement tooling material, which creates a hard, uniform and dimensionally accurate piece. Used for slush casting latex and production of master models.

What is the difference between Hydrocal and Ultracal?

What is Ultracal made of?

USG ULTRACAL® 30 gypsum cement is a traditional casting gypsum cement, specially formulated for close tolerance tooling.

How long does Hydrocal take to cure?

If you want the plaster to be thoroughly cured before de-molding (for figurines, etc.), wait until it feels warmish and dry. This can take up to 24 hours or more for a thick surface.

How long does Ultracal take to set?

ULTRACAL 30 Set Time is 25-35 minutes. De-Mold Time 60-80 minutes. Mix Ratio: 38 parts water to 100 parts plaster.

Is Ultracal waterproof?

What is gypsum cement?

Gypsum is a mineral and is hydrated calcium sulfate in chemical form. Gypsum plays a very important role in controlling the rate of hardening of the cement. Gypsum is added to control the “setting of cement”. If not added, the cement will set immediately after mixing of water leaving no time for concrete placing.

What color is Hydrocal?

It is very white in color and exhibits setting expansion twice that of Moulding Plaster or Pottery Plaster.

Is Metapex radiopaque?

The material shows good resorbable properties, is radiopaque in nature, does not set to a hard mass, is easily inserted and removed from the canals, is harmless to permanent tooth germs and gets resorbed within few weeks when extruded from the apex.

How do you mix Hydrocal?

The mix ratio for use as a bore coating is approximately 1.5 (powder) :1 (water) by volume. The mix ratio for use as a high temperature (HT) reinforced coating is approximately 2.5 (powder) :1 (water) by volume. For slurry application, add powder to water and mix until desired consistency. Use the slurry immediately.

What is hydrostone plaster?

Hydrostone is a U.S. Gypsum product which is considerably harder than regular plaster of Paris, and lacks the period of plasticity in its setting curve which allows plaster to be worked directly. Don’t mix this with your hand, like you can with regular plaster of Paris.

How do you mix Ultracal?

MIX RATIO: The manufacture recommended mix-ratio of White Hydro Cal is: 45 parts water to 100 parts Hydro Cal by weight. The average setup time is 25-35 minutes when manually mixed. Please note that parts can be in grams, ounces or pounds etc.
