When To Use Glue Stick 3D Printing

Why do you need a glue stick for a 3D printer?

Glue and similar adhesive substances offer a few benefits: Easy cleanup: Many glue sticks are water-soluble, allowing you to quickly rinse your build plate with water to remove any leftover or excess adhesive. Other adhesion solutions, like tape, tend to leave a residue that’s more difficult to remove.

How do you use a 3D printer glue stick?

You can apply glue to the entire bed, or just where the part prints. If you apply a thin layer of glue, you can apply it before each print. If you notice glue buildup (an uneven, pitted looking surface) wash the residual glue from the bed with warm water and dry with a paper towel. The bed is waterproof.

Can you use PVC glue on PLA?

I’ve had success gluing a printed PLA part to PVC using a glue from Selleys called All Plastic Fix. It’s a two step procedure where you use a priming pen/marker on both areas to be joined then simply apply the cyanoacrylate glue to one side and hold pressure on the join for around 30 secs.
