Question: Why Is There Polystyrene On Walls

Firstly it is marketed as a thermal insulation layer to keep the warmth of a room from escaping through the wall, I have absolutely no idea on how effective this is. Second it may have been used to hide the rough or uneven surface on the actual wall it is stuck to.
