What staples to use for house wraps?

Today, most house wrap manufacturers require their product to be installed with cap nails or cap staples. This change definitely slows down the process, but on the upside, capped fasteners hold house wrap to the wall up to 25 times better than staples.

What staples to use for Tyvek?

Tyvek is easy to install using a Tyvek Stapler. Tyvek is pliable and readily wraps around corners and angles for an easy install with a Tyvek stapler. A Tyvek Stapler uses cap staples which is recommended for increased holding power and reducing tears.

Can you use staples on Tyvek house wrap?

When staples without caps are used to temporarily fasten DuPont Tyvek® WRBs, no more than 4 staples per square yard should be installed. All staples should be sealed with DuPont Tyvek® Tape when the DuPont Tyvek® WRB is being installed for air barrier and high performance applications.

Do you install Tyvek before or after Windows?

3 Answers. There is no problem with doing this. Housewrap is “breathable” by design so you won’t trap moisture anywhere. You could build a wall with ten layers of housewrap and it would be more durable, not less.
